Students Discover Their Superpowers

Connected3030 founder John Broussard visited the Corona Student Center Mosaic Academy, part of Springs Charter Schools, to lead an interactive assembly for students in grades TK through 8. The session focused on three simple but powerful themes. Respect for self. Respect for others. Respect for the environment.

The assembly was designed as a fun and energetic experience led by Broussard, who introduced himself to the students as Coach B. Using superheroes as a theme, Coach B helped students understand that while every hero is different, they all have value and purpose. Students shared their favorite superheroes and quickly realized that heroes may have different abilities, but they all use their powers for something good.

Throughout the assembly, students participated in activities that encouraged them to discover their own “superpowers.” Volunteers were invited to the front of the room, prizes were handed out, and students were reminded that every hero has a story. Coach B challenged students to embrace who they are by recognizing both their strengths and their struggles.

Students turned to a partner and shared one thing they are good at and one thing they are still learning. In one of the most powerful moments of the session, Coach B asked students to stand if they had ever struggled with something, failed at something, moved schools, or had someone doubt them. As many students stood across the room, the message became clear. Everyone has a story and everyone is growing.

The workshop also introduced students to simple ways to manage their emotions and choices. Through a hands on activity called “Hug the Thumb,” students practiced how to pause, calm their emotions, and think before reacting.

The final portion of the assembly focused on connection. Coach B asked students a simple question. Why do superheroes use their powers. The students quickly answered. To help others.

Students left the assembly with a powerful reminder. Their strengths, their story, and their character are what make them powerful. Through engaging activities, reflection, and fun superhero themed moments, the session helped students see the greatness that already lives within them.
